TANGOCEVICHE RETURNS!!! - Raw Fish & Argentine Tango
Instructed by Adrian Arias & Todd Brown |
After more than a year's respite, TANGOCEVICHE returns to the Art House.

Keeping with the Art House aesthetic, that art is a total experience of living, this workshop is brought to you by two artists intent on keeping food and art in the same room. In an unsual workshop that combines an introductory Argentine tango class with instruction on how to prepare the delicacy of Peruvian CEVICHE (white fish cured in fresh limejuice with onion, garlic, and spices), you will discover the sublime truth that raw fish and a close embrace share a common sentiment.
The first hour is spent on tango, developing lead/follow skills and basic figures (varies in levels I & II). The second hour is spent with food, learning the smells, colors and tastes of a few variations of Peruvian ceviche. The last hour is for eating and dancing, with an occasional toast.
Bring a bottle of wine for the meal if you like!
Date: TWO separate 3-hr workshops
TANGOCEVICHE I: Saturday, March 22, 1-4pm
TANGOCEVICHE II: Saturday, March 29, 1-4pm

PERFORMANCE DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP IN FLAMENCO
Instructed by: La Tania & guests |
This workshop is designed for the purpose of training flamenco artists to have an understanding of the basics that one needs to interact with a singer, guitarist or/and dancer and also understand the importance of "palmas" (hand clapping) in a performance situation. Each dancer/guitarist/singer will have a slot of time to perform or simply ask questions to get a better understanding of this art form. Along with La Tania there will be a professional singer and guitarist assisting with this workshop. We recommend you bring some material prepared to experiment with: a dance, or part of a dance or song. La Tania will be taking advantage of the Art House’s informal friendly setting by inviting students, who seem most ready, to participate in her upcoming shows. Through this process students will begin to acquire experience performing in front of an audience.
All levels are welcome.
" La Tania's combination of restraint and release are capable of unleashing the extraordinary...clean, furious, incessant...La Tania made grace and beauty the defining features..."

SUSHISOUKOUS: A delicacy of fish, and a dance from the heart of Africa
Instructed by: Achille Massoma & Angela Wen-Yi Chu |
“For the pleasure of the pleasure”
Dance and food, in every culture on the planet, are almost always at the heart of celebration. Originally from Cameroon, arriving to SF via Paris, Achille Massoma will share with us his passion for living the good life which begins, naturally, with an introduction to dancing SOUKOUS! todays popular dance from Central Africa. Joining Achille will be Angela Wen-Yi Chu demonstrating the preparation of SUSHI.
"My feelings about sushi are that it's a very intimate, balanced, delicate, almost synergistic food. That it's a sliver of all these flavors, colors, and textures that compliment each other so perfectly that all you need is this tiny little roll for it to be satisfying."
Prepare yourselves for an adventure of the senses!
And don't worry, men especially, the Soukous part is not as tough as you might imagine.
DATE: tba
Instructors: Achille Massoma & Angela Wen-Yi Chu
